A positive observation during our recent visit to Ghana is that most communities are looking for self-sustaining ways to fund their rural development projects. In view of this we decided to set up bee keeping and honey making ventures with the aim of selling raw traditional organic honey in the EU.This will enable the communities earn a reliable source of income from their own efforts, in their own environment with a positive environmental and social impact. They will be monetising their traditional and local bee keeping resources to create a sustainable solution to poverty and unemployment.

Unlike other practices we aim to make honey that is minimally                                                                                                         processed. African bees usually gather nectar from a vastly                                                                                                               diverse array of plants, trees and flowers, many of which are                                                                                                           traditional medicine for their healing properties. Our honey                                                                                                               will be only filtered to remove any debris and not heated up to                                                                                                      

destroy their flavour and characteristics. It will be certified,                                                                                                             organic and can be traced back to the keeper and area it came                                                                                                         from. Our aim is to produce natural honey that is straight from the                                                                                             hive. One that is raw and untreated.

                                                                                                    This will ensure that the honey retains its natural

                                                                                                    anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory  and

                                                                                                    anti-frugal qualities.

                                                                                                    Guaranteeing that all the important enzymes-

                                                                                                    vitamins A, C,D, E and K are present. Minerals

                                                                                                    such as magnesium, sulphur, calcium,copper,

                                                                                                    iodine,iron, phosphorous, sodium, potassium  and

                                                                                                    many more are retained.This increases the

                                                                                                    nutritional value of the honey.Since antiquity,

                                                                                                    honey has been recognised and used 

                                                                                                    medicinally for its antibacterial and antiseptic

                                                                                                    properties.   It aids in healing cuts and wounds  as well as                                                                                                                 respiratory tract infections. It is also used to treat skin diseases.                                                                                                       Moreover, honey  – especially dark honey such as African honey –                                                                                                    is an effective antioxidant and helps slow the ageing process. 

                                                                                                   Other products from the hive, including propolis, royal jelly

                                                                                                   and pollen, are used in the manufacturing of therapeutic

                                                                                                   products to fight fatigue and boost the immune system.
